How to Handle Sudden Asthma Attacks
Sudden asthma attacks require immediate medical attention, as they can cause serious complications if not treated properly.
Symptoms of an asthma attack:
- Severe shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Rapid heartbeat
- Feeling anxious or panicky
What to do when an attack occurs?
- Use your bronchodilator inhaler immediately
- Sit in a comfortable position and lean forward slightly
- Try to calm down and breathe slowly
- Open the windows for fresh air
When to go to the emergency room
- If breathing does not improve after using your inhaler
- If symptoms persist for more than 15 minutes
- If the patient feels faint or extremely dizzy
